I Like to Move It

Grade: All

Facility: Gymnasium, Limited Space

Materials:

  • 1 Ball (i.e. beach, foam, paper, waffle, gator)
  • 4 pylon
  • 1 beanbag per person

Activity Description:

Challenge your students' targeting skills as they work as a team to move a ball into the opposing court using only beanbags.

Overview:

  • Divide students into two equal teams
  • Mark off a square using pylons or lines on a floor
  • Team A lines up on one side of the square while Team B lines up on the opposite side of the square facing Team A
  • Each player is given a beanbag
  • Place a large target ball in the middle of the square
  • The object of this game is for Team A to try and move the ball from the middle of the square across Team B's line by throwing beanbags at the ball and for Team B to move the ball across Team A's line from the other side
  • Players use the beanbags that have been thrown from the other team to continue trying to move the ball across the other team's line
  • If the ball rolls outside of the square, bring the ball back into the middle of the square and resume play.
  • Once a team successfully moves the ball across the other team's line they score a point and play again by placing the target ball back into the middle of the square
