Are You Full of Beans?

Activity Description:
Have you ever imagined using beans not just for food, but also as an inspiration for a physical activity? Get your students or campers to use their creativity and cooperation skills by participating in this fun activity. And if the weather is really nice, why not take your “beans” outside?
Overview:
  • Students find a space with a partner.
  • Partners remain connected as they act out these types of beans:
    • Baked beans - make a small shape with your bodies.
    • Broad beans - make a wide stretched out shape with your bodies.
    • String beans - make a tall stringy shape with your bodies.
    • Jumping beans - make your beans jump!
    • Runner beans - run on the spot with your partner.
    • Chili beans - shiver and shake with your partner.
    • Jelly beans - wobble and shake like Jell-O with your partner.
    • French beans - do the can-can attached to your partner.
    • Lima beans - make a fat and thin shape together.
    • Beans in the pot - variety of movements from groups to show all the beans they know.
