Can you give me more information about the Health and Physical Education Curriculum Implementation Support Plan?
Ophea has a Curriculum Implementation Support plan for the province. See H&PE Curriculum Support Overview Page for a summary of the plan.
When looking at making a plan for a school, consider the following:
- Your school should have the Ophea H&PE binders (grade by grade lessons and information to support the implementation of the H&PE curriculum). On page 7 is "The Key Components to a Quality Program". That's a good place to start. Consider looking at that list and thinking about in which areas your school is already doing well and the areas in which they need to work. Also in the support binders, look at Appendix D: Scheduling for Maximum Participation in Health and Physical Education. There are some good ideas there for increasing activity levels in schools.
- Sign up to be an Active School. You will receive excellent, free resources (posters, activity ideas). Active Schools helps you do an assessment of your school activity level in a variety of categories and provides tools to help you build a more active, healthy school community. For more information, see the Active Schools section.

Where can I get a copy of the Ontario H&PE Curriculum?
A link to the Ministry of Education web site where you can download the different H&PE Curriculum policies for the different grades is available in the H&PE Links section.
There is a grade 1-8 policy document, grade 9/10 and grade 11/12. The Course Profile documents are courses of study which are additional resources for teachers.
