About Us

The Physical Activity Resource Centre (PARC) a member of the Ontario Health Promotion Resource System (OHPRS) was established in April 2003 with a mandate to provide support to Physical Activity Promoters working in Public Health, Community Health Centres and Recreation Centres across Ontario. PARC is managed by Ophea (Ontario Physical and Health Education Association) and is funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as part of the Ontario Public Health Promotion Resource System (OHPRS).

Physical inactivity is the most prevalent modifiable risk factor for all major chronic diseases. PARC’s long-term vision is to increase the level of physical activity among Ontarians, and as a result, reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases.

Our Purpose
The Physical Activity Resource Centre (PARC) exists to build the capacity of physical activity promoters across Ontario to deliver quality physical activity initiatives and effectively promote physical activity in a population health context.

By building the capacity of physical activity promoters, it is expected that PARC will contribute to improving the health and well being of Ontarians.

What we do

PARC supports Physical Activity Promoters implementing physical activity programs and initiatives across Ontario. Our services are intended to support capacity building, sharing, and learning opportunities.

PARC provides training and consultation, opportunities for networking and referrals, and resource and information dissemination services.
