About us
Ophea (Ontario Physical and Health Education Association) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supportingOntarioschool communities through advocacy, quality programs and services, and partnership building. Ophea is led by the vision that all kids will value, participate in, and make a lifelong commitment to active, healthy living.
Ophea provides a variety of programs and services for school communities aimed at improving the health and well-being of children and youth. These initiatives include:LivingSchool, activ8,ActiveSchools, Asthma Education Initiative, Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds, Take Action, H&PE Curriculum Implementation Support, Kids’ Health Conference, Lungs Are For Life, Ophea.net, Ontario Physical Education Safety Guidelines, Physical Activity Resource Centre (PARC), School Nutrition Initiative, and PlaySport.
Partners
PlaySport was developed and rigorously pilot tested by Ophea in collaboration with the Canadian Intramural Recreation Association of Ontario (CIRA-Ontario),BrockUniversity, and Ontario Special Olympics.
Ontario Special Olympics has reviewed and endorse the adaptation considerations for intellectual disabilities found within the PlaySport activities.

PlaySport is supported by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation.

PlaySport is also supported by Brock University, through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) grant program.
