Much of the work we do at Ophea involves motivating people and creating resources to support the development of healthy schools and communities.
Every once in awhile we get to leave the office and visit schools where we can see that what we are working for is happening at schools across Ontario. One such experience came yesterday when we visited Highgate Public School in Markham. The administrators, teachers, students, parents and community members at Highgate are making amazing things happen in their school community. From daily school-wide DPA to nutritious snacks every morning, and from the Dance Pack to the Play Leaders, it is obvious that the work they are doing is having a positive impact.
Highgate PS exemplifies what it means to be a healthy active school community, but it was clear that it takes a lot of commitment and even more hard work. As we edge closer towards summer vacation, think about and celebrate what your school has done to be healthy and active this year.
