Ophea worked in partnership with experts at Brock University to develop both workshops. We would like to thank Brock for their outstanding work both with technology and pedagogy expertise.
Building Blocks to a Quality H&PE Program
This workshop includes information in three key area:
1) Laying the foundation
2) Planning
3) Program Delivery
There are video clips showing action, interactive “Check and Reflect” activities to provide an opportunity to test your own knowledge and reflect on your learning, hundreds of links to additional information and downloadable material.
This workshop aims to:
increase participants’ understanding of the goals and the philosophy of the H&PE curriculum increase participants’ understanding of a quality H&PE program build participants’ commitment and capacity to deliver a quality program increase awareness of resources to support the delivery of a quality program This workshop is an excellent place to start for new teachers, specialists or those in roles supporting anyone teaching health and physical education.
Take a Walk through the Ophea H&PE Binders
Walk through the Ontario Health and Physical Education Curriculum Support: (Kindergarten to Grade 10) documents, on your own with an online workshop! This workshop was created in partnership with Brock University as a research and demonstration project to help raise awareness of the supports available to implement the Health and Physical Education curriculum and to investigate the effectiveness of on-line training for Health and Physical Education. The workshop is designed to help orient educators to the HPE support documents.
Starting the Workshop
With your support document beside you (any grade), go through this workshop in your own way at your own speed. Click on the Start Presentation button followed by a click on the Computer System Requirements button in the top right hand corner to start at the beginning and move through the presentation. At any time, use the buttons at the side and bottom of the screen to jump to another part of the presentation. Click on the pdf files to see handouts and on the video icon to see and hear a video image and explanation of the materials. Use the "i" button to see the table of contents and view the list of all slides, handouts and video clips.
