Walk This Way In-Person and Online Workshops

These free workshop is designed for community leaders who are interested in Walk This Way and in receiving copies of the free resource to distribute in their community.

Walk This Way is a self-help kit designed to assist adults, of all ages, in beginning and adhering to a walking regimen.

This resource will assist adults in increasing their level of physical activity and contribute to the promotion of healthy weights and the prevention of chronic diseases including heart disease & stroke.

PARC & Walk This Way Regional In-Person Workshops

The workshops will include opportunities for physical activity promoters to network and learn from each other’s experiences about promoting and implementing physical activity programs  and initiatives in different communities.  Click here to register.

PARC Workshop Descriptions

The Built Environment- Creating Active Living Communities

The workshop will give an overview of the build environment as it pertains to physical activity and will provide participants with an environmental scan of what is going on in this area across the province.  It will also be a great opportunity for health promoters to discuss challenges and successes in this emerging area.  A special guest from the Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition will be available to answer specific questions. 

Mental Health and Physical Activity: Recovery in Motion

This exciting new area of interest will be discussed, presenting the latest research on the topic of using physical activity within mental health treatment.  The workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss topics ranging from physical activity and depression to physical activity and substance abuse with a lead researcher in this area from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) on hand for a question and answer session. 

 

Walk This Way is a set of self-help program materials intended to assist men and women, ages 20-64, in beginning and adhering to a walking regimen to increase their physical activity levels and prevent the onset of a stroke.

The WTW kit is aimed at adults in the Contemplation and Preparation Stage of Change (according to Prochaska and DiClemente’s model). These adults are thinking about becoming active, or have been active for less than 6 months.
